Old and Grey
One day, in another time,
Many years away,
There she will be waiting,
Now all old and grey.
Still looking for some happiness,
And colours of a rainbow,
Just watching and waiting,
And hoping you will show.
With coloured bird in a cage,
Fluffy slippers on her feet,
Pearls neatly placed around her neck,
Just hoping for her beau to meet.
In a rocking chair she sits,
A cat curled upon her lap,
She closes her eyes and dreams,
While she takes a little nap.
The rocking slowly stops,
She dreams of years gone by,
Of younger, more vibrant day’s,
Tears slowly seeping from her eye.
She dreams of the time she’s lost,
Of happiness and tears,
A time that she will never get back,
Her future and of fears.
All she wanted was happiness,
With a special friend,
But now life has passed her by,
And she is nearing her end.
If only she had time,
Left upon her side,
Maybe she would find him,
Before they both died.
But this is in the future,
Not the here and now,
She must get out there and be happy,
And find her love somehow.
