Here I am knocking on heavens gate,
Looking for the bell, I hope I’m not late,
I hope this is heaven, and not hell,
I’m looking or St Peter, so I can tell.

That I got delayed looking for a fix,
Then there was that pile up on the M6,
Too much tragedy, too many dead,
Bodies separated from their head.

A giant jig-saw of body parts,
We’ve one thing in common, we all have hearts,
A queue is forming of moving dead,
Shuffling forward, looking for heavens bed.

All I did was overdose,
Bad stuff, bad shit, I should roast,
Not standing here knocking on this gate,
If that was life, its life I hate!

My brothers gone to Dakar, no he has gone to Mali,
Where the hell is he, on this god damn rally.

He crossed the channel, and went to France,
Couldn’t speak the language, just took his chance.

High in the Pyrenees, a tyre blew, in the deepest snow,
He changed the wheel, then off again he’d go.

It was a long drive down to southern Spain,
There the sun was shining, and no sign of rain.

Then cross over into Africa, now this really is a race,
Some fast, some slow, they all go at their own pace.

There was some rest and relaxation, to the sky he took,
Beach flying in Rabat, soaring high, just to have a look.

Now in the Atlas Mountains, he’s gone and got the squits,
No toilet for a hundred miles, this place is just the pits.

The mountains took their toll, on one or more cars,
But next it’s the Sahara, sun, sand, camels, but no bars!

The sand gets everywhere, in places you don’t want it to,
Clogging up engines, making more work to do.

Next to Mauritania and through the mine fields he went,
Hoping to cross before nightfall, this was no place to pitch a tent.

Then Senegal he bribed the border guards, just to let him in,
Now through villages of happy smiling faces, to see who’d win.

War has broken out in Mali, so where to go who knows,
Gambia is now the finish line, so onto another ferry he goes.

The race is over, time to think of home, so back to UK he flew,
Landing at Gatwick, now on the last leg back to Crewe.

He finished the race, and lived the dream,
When difficulty was in the way, he went to the extreme!

(I wrote this during the time my brother was taking part in the Dakar Rally, each leg he did he sent home reports, and so this is how it happened, for real)

A part-time lover,
That’s who I am,
A mistress a concubine,
That is the plan.

I am the other woman,
Hidden away that’s me,
But maybe things would be different,
If we were both free.

I wish you were here always,
Lying in my bed,
But that’s not reality,
And not what we both said.

My arm’s they ache to hold you,
But I know this can not be,
Only when it’s convenient,
And no one else can see.

 How much am I supposed to give,
How much love can I take,
I’m here sobbing on my pillow,
But went into this wide awake.

 In another time and another place,
A different world maybe,
We could be together,
For everyone to see.

 I opened my life, and laid it bare,
I let you in, and showed you there,
All I ask is for a kiss sometime,
This life is not a pantomime,
It is for real, and all we’ve got,
Don’t make a mistake; it‘ll cost allot,
Of wretched tears, and broken sadness,
And of many days of tortured madness,
I want you to know how I feel,
But I can’t tell you, not for real,
To have happy times, with my special man,
And for fun and laughter, that’s my plan.

Why is life so full of shit?
So full of crap, so badly lit,
Why can’t it flow, with the breeze?
To float and drift, to be at ease,
I want to be able to look and see,
I need to be happy within me.

My head is pounding with monotone noise,
My body drained and lost its poise,
Something out there is dragging me down,
Grasping and pushing, until I drown.

I need to be able to walk tall,
And say to the world, sod you all,
I want these things, but can’t get out,
I need to be heard, to scream and shout.

Why can’t I shine, and laugh out loud?
I want to be seen above the crowd,
Why do these things hold me back?
Is it just confidence that I lack,
I want to be able to look and see,
I need to be happy within me.

 When the day turns into night,
Wrap your arms around me,
And hold me tight,
I lay myself down upon my bed,
Tears on my pillow,
And a million mixed up things in my head.

Holding tightly onto your hand,
Our fingers entwined,
I’m far away in dreamland,
This is another place for me,
I’m somewhere else forever now,
If time was different, this how it should be.

This is a magical place you see,
In my dreamland far away,
But it’s just a dream, and not reality,
Then when the sun climbs in the sky,
I have to let you go,
We have say goodbye.

 Lying on the beach,
Hand in hand,
Lying on the beach,
On the golden sand.

The sun is shining,
Eyes are meeting,

The soft wind blowing,
Kissing and caressing,

Snowy White Dove

If I could send a snowy white dove,
I would do it to show you my love,
I’d catch all the raindrops and give them to you,
To show you that my love is true.

The love I give in this special rhyme,
Will last from now until the end of time,
It’s all my love sent for everyday day,
To say it in this rhyme is my only way.

I’d go to the rainbows end, for you my love,
And gather diamond bright stars from heaven above,
I would fetch fluffy clouds and a crescent moon,
Give everything I own, just to be with you soon.
